Like the soccer season, ECNL has a specific format that must be followed by all teams.
First, ECNL is separated into several parts, depending on the domestic location.
Girls have nine regional conferences, while boys can enjoy ten. This regional conference contains anywhere from nine to sixteen clubs, all competing and struggling to be the best.
Every ECNL season consists of twenty to thirty matches spread in the season, and each team plays a role against all other teams in their specific regions.
And the regular season, ECNL also organizes several other games and events throughout the year.
This national event occurred on weekends against teams from various conferences and regions that they might have never played during the domestic season.
Compete teams may not play every other team in all tournaments, but this is an opportunity to play teams from all over the country.
ECNL also offers their “Champions League Playoff” during the season.
As well as several Wildcard teams, teams that have obtained the most points during the season are automatically qualified for the playoffs. These teams created groups of 32.
The playoffs followed a single round-roundin style format, with eight groups, each consisting of four teams. The winner of each group will then play another group winner to decide who is eligible for the National ECNL final.
The four teams in the national final played in a two-day tournament to decide who won the season.
The title National Champion ECNL is arguably the biggest prize at the American Youth Soccer.
The team that failed to qualify for the ECNL Champions League can compete in North America or the Showcase Cup. These trophies provide more opportunities for young players who usually don’t open to them.
The top sixteen teams did not get enough points to enter the Champions League eligible for the North American Cup.
Sixteen teams below they qualified for the third showcase tier trophy.
Every team that does not qualify for other cups has the opportunity to compete in the Open Cup. This is the only way the regional team that does not qualify for other competition that can prove their value in front of Scouts or coaches from other clubs.

ECNL History

Starting in August 2009, ECNL began as the league only women, serving under 15, 16 and 17 teams. These teams will play nine regular matches during this season eligible for the ECNL championship. This championship is played at the end of the year.
The league developed one season later, allowing more clubs to take part. This expansion brings a total of 40 clubs up to 52. Development also allows for the inclusion of a new age bracket in the mixture; Now, under 18 years also allowed to play.
ECNL saw further expansion in August 2011 when the number of clubs was allowed to play swollen from 52 clubs to 66 clubs. Each team plays 30 ordinary games during the season. The next league expansion occurred in 2021, with the formation of a new ECNL Super Cup.
This Super Cup will help the club find and choose their top players in all age groups and make “the first team”. This team will have additional training sessions throughout the year and play in other competitions in the league.
